Curia Julia

This building has two names in Latin, the Curia Julia and the Curia Lulia.  Its English name is the Senate House.  Construction of the building was started in 44 B.C. by Julius Caeser and finished by Augustus in 29 B.C..  It was in use from 29 B.C. to 476 C.E.  The use of the building was to house the senate of the Roman Empire.  The building was made out of brick-faced concrete.(Lacus Curtius)  It was located in the Forum next to the Basilica Porcia and the Basilica Fulvia.(The Roman Empire) The Emperor that commissioned to building is Julius Caeser, he is also the buildings namesake.  The building is a large hall with back in the days of ancient Rome, had a large open air meeting place in the front of it.  The hall was burned down in the fire of Carinus.(Lacus Curtius)
