The Constellation Andromeda

Andromeda

Andromeda was a beautiful princess who had a beautiful mother too confident in her own beauty. This angered the goddess Juno so she sent a monster to ravage the princesses' country. The king, her father, went to the oracle to ask for help against the monster and the oracle answered his request with sacrificing Andromeda to the monster as an offering. In the end, the king chained Andromeda to a rock as a sacrifice but Perseus, passing by after killing Medusa, fell in love and saved Andromeda.

The constellation is of Andromeda with her hands chained up on a rock.

This story really resonated with me, and in a lot of ways the story is dark and sad. Andromeda was not the issue here but she became the victim do to her being a woman and her being the daughter of the women who had angered Juno. At first, I didn't understand why it wasn't the mother who was chained to the rock but now I realize that when the myth was created, men had this biaest against women and created a story in which they were doing wrong (don't be overcome with vanity). So in my opinion, this story was a lesson to young girls to not think of themselves too highly, and if they do, they will inevitably be punished by the gods.
