Tulane motto

Originally established in 1834, the motto of Tulane is a reminder of how the pupil should behave and be selfless. It also says students shouldn't do anything because they want to, but because it's in their greatest interest. Motto: Non sibi, sed suis, meaning "Not for yourself, but for your own." I believe this fits well with what this school represents. Things such as bettering yourself through education and how they also use the images on their crest. The pelican on the top represents selflessness from that old story of the pelican mother bringing her child back to life by covering it with her own blood.
